Set around the turn of the last century, "best intentions" is the story of Charlie Wooster, a charming, if slightly entitled, middle-class factory owner who unintentionally becomes a dictator after joining a workers revolution for love.
This story came to me in a dream.
I was having lunch with an ex-boyfriend who told me he was in love with me again.
The dream continued and we were at his house, his phone rang and the display read ‘LIFE’.
Suddenly in the dream I am his daughter. I ask ‘what does it mean ‘LIFE’? He answers: ‘That is what I put in my phone for the hospital who will ring when they have a heart transplant ready for your mum.’
He doesn’t answer the phone.
Then I am the other woman, his lover, in her beautiful converted barn. I am there with him and I gotten the heart transplant instead of his wife.

STV is producing a reality TV show where the shows candidates supposed to get married after a week. They are 24/7 on livestream as they are being followed by a nano drone. The viewers wear VR glasses and experience “love from the safety of your armchair — the closest you will get to having romance in your life without the risk of heartache”.
Earl has put together Patrick and Carrie for the show who transform it pretty much into a wild, sexed up, intense road movie and get married in Las Vegas. They are immensely popular and achieve major social media coverage which Carrie is not immune to.
Jane is strangely drawn to Patrick. When Carrie eventually tells her to fuck off Jane breaks down and sells her soul to the show.
During one of the couples jealous fights in a restaurant, Carrie accidentally kills the waitress by throwing a champagne on her head. Instantly egged on by social media she blinds herself to what she’s done and they flee to Mexico whilst Champagne bottle throwing videos go viral.
Levi’s ego is inflated by the shows popularity. He has never been so successful as on the day of the killing. When the FBI requests the livestream to be shut down he refuses and Jane agrees with him - to her crews horror. Levi is arrested for “facilitating the couples social media addiction like a drug dealer” and in his and Jane’s absence the stream is quickly shut down. Jane is livid. For the Patrick and Carrie romance is now dead and they are just 2 people in a cheap motel room.
Carrie has to broadcast. And she is back, enthusiastically filming themselves via their mobile phones. After another violent incident and realizing Carrie will never back down, Patrick starts to freak out. Carrie however, has never felt so alive and she holds him at gunpoint.
Earl approaches Jane and asks her what she has learned. Does she feel how the audience needs the escape of TV? How she can now reach into their lowest desires? He admits to owning the channel and asks her to work for him. First he owes Patrick a favour and she needs to bring him back in one piece.
Jane blackmails the FBI into taking her and her small crew to Mexico. Once there, she promises Carrie her own show after she’s done time, if she lets Patrick go.
The idea for this romcom came to me during a dinner with a wealthy aristocrat who likes the good life. He is said to be planning a harem on his estate where only women will live.
I asked what he would do if he ever fell in love? What would happen to the women in his harem then?
Tariq randomly meets Elsie at a bus stop after getting lost during a trip to Boston. It is love at first sight for him and he follows her onto the bus. Tariq has to return home. Waiting for him at home, the palace, are his 3 wives with whom he lives in relative peace despite there being no romantic love.
When Elsie surprise visits him panic ensues. He shuffes the wives, staff and monkey out the back door and pushes the baby elephant and luggage out of the back gate when Elsie walks in.
When all is revealed the consequences of this romance are different for each of the wives.
